Garden Soil

There's no need to guess when you do a soil test!

Soil Testing for Lawns & Gardens

Healthy lawns and gardens start with healthy soil.

Soil affects how well plants can access nutrients, water and oxygen. When a lawn or garden is not performing as expected, applying more fertiliser is not always the answer. The issue may be related to soil pH, nutrient balance, salinity, organic matter or another condition below the surface.

A laboratory soil test gives a clearer picture of what is happening in your soil before money is spent on unnecessary products or treatments.

Why Test Your Soil?

Plants require a range of nutrients to grow and perform well.

Macronutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulphur, are needed in relatively larger amounts. Micronutrients, such as iron, manganese, zinc, copper and boron, are required in much smaller amounts but are still important for healthy plant growth.

A soil test can help identify nutrient levels and soil conditions that may be limiting the performance of your lawn, garden or plants.

When Is a Soil Test Useful?

Soil testing is a worthwhile starting point when:

  • Your lawn or garden is struggling despite regular care

  • You are planning to invest in fertiliser, soil conditioners or other treatments

  • You are establishing a new lawn or garden

  • You want to better understand the condition of your soil

  • You are joining one of our regular lawn or garden treatment programs

For ongoing treatment programs, soil testing allows us to monitor changes over time and adjust recommendations based on the needs of your property rather than guesswork.

How It Works

Once you request a soil test, we will arrange a visit to inspect the relevant lawn or garden area and collect a representative soil sample.

The sample is sent to an independent laboratory for analysis. Once the results are received, we will explain the findings and provide practical recommendations based on the soil results and the needs of your lawn or garden.

Please note: soil testing provides information about soil conditions and nutrient levels. It is one part of assessing an unhealthy lawn or garden and may need to be considered alongside plant symptoms, watering practices, pest activity and site conditions.

Pricing

The prices shown below are for one soil test only. Where separate lawn areas, garden beds or soil types need to be assessed individually, additional testing may be required.
